5 Stars In car holder for Garmin Quest
This product greatly simplifies the use of the Garmin Quest in my car. If you have the dashboard space, I highly recommend this mount vs the suction cup mount.
5 Stars Much better than the standard mount
This three-footed friction mount is FAR superior to the horrid suction cup mount which Garmin forces you to buy (part of the bundle) with the Quest. Now I can actually read the display while I am driving, or turn the GPS so that my front seat passenger can read it.
5 Stars It works well.
It sits stabile on my desh board, never move at all regardless how I drive. However, I don’t know how stable it would be if I cross a bump or make a turn at 60MPH because I am not a agressive driver.
It has three flexable legs that makes this mound fits to my curved desh board. One good feature that I didn’t expected is I can move it down easily from desh board to hide it without taking out PGS unit from the mount. It definitely helps to prevent thefts breaking windows to steal my GPS. For the original mount that came with GPS, it needs a flat base on desh board if not to mount GPS on windows (In California it is illegal to mount it on wind shield). The flat base needs to be attached on desh board with epoxy, which makes it difficult to clean if try to remove the base from desh board. The suction cup doesn’t hold the mount well. GPS with mount dropped off from my desh board many times, I had to replace the mount back to the flat base almost two times a day. With this friction mount I never had that problem anymore. This is the first GPS I have used so I don’t know about other brends of GPS. To use GARMIN GPS, I highly recommend to use friction mount instead of suction cup.
4 Stars Works well - Should be standard in Calif
I have a Honda del Sol, and the friction mount works very well on the dash, never slipping around or anything. The unit doesn’t jiggle around any more than with the suction cup. I read the Garmin blurb saying the suction cup mount was not legal in California — it sure would be nice if they didn’t sell the non-legal one. So the price of the Quest is actually $50+ higher than as it is sold here. The suction cup thing was a pain to get setup correctly anyhow. The friction mount is much easier to put in place, easy to grab the unit off the dash to push buttons, and the sightline in my car is not interfered with whatever with it.
5 Stars Good Product
This product is definitely worth it. It works much better than the suction mount, where after a while, it stops mounting, due to lack of suction. This just sits on top of your dashboard and stays there, no matter how bumpy the ride.
